Based in Bishop Auckland, Westwinds Marketing specialises in marketing communications, particularly for SMEs – this includes social media marketing, Search Engine Optimisation, web content, email marketing, print media, event planning, loyalty programmes and more.

My name is Meg Lidster and I’m the founder of Westwinds Marketing. I set the business up during the Covid-19 pandemic and I saw how so many small businesses in the local area were having to close. Those that remained had to make difficult decisions regarding full-time staff, and many felt they needed to pull back on marketing in order to save expenditure. On the other side of the same coin, many small businesses were born during the pandemic – but whilst they may be turning a hobby or passion into a business, they may not have knowledge or experience about things like marketing.

That’s where Westwinds Marketing comes in! I have worked in marketing since 2008, in a global direct-to-consumer eCommerce and bricks-and-mortar retail store environment. I was with the company from its very early days and helped grow it to the multi-million pound business it is today. I have taken the marketing communications skills learnt in this business and applied them to small businesses across the country. But rather than delivering a package of pre-defined activity, some of which may not be relevant or beneficial to your company, and charging an exorbitant fee to do so, we do things a little differently!
